Good day Deviants!

As you may have heard we've got a good chunk of Art History for you all once again! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this, the purpose is to explore the origins and beginnings of all the various art genres we love today. Art History covers all genres and artists, from Painting to Poetry, Sculpture to Sewing and all that's in between!

At the moment the week is between 15th - 21st February and it's looking like this:

  • Sunday 15th: Digital Art Day
  • Monday 16th: Traditional Art Day
  • Tuesday 17th: Film & Animation Day
  • Wednesday 18th: Lit Day
  • Thursday 19th: Artisan Crafts Day
  • Friday 20th: Photography Day
  • Saturday 21st: Cartoons, Manga, Anthro & Fan Art Day

So as you can see Tuesday 17th is our day to shine as the Film & Animation community! So what we're looking for right now is anyone who wants to contribute anything such as Features (thumbnails), Detailed Articles, Interviews with other Deviants, Mini-Contests, Chat events and more!

I am thinking about getting started in animation and possibly doing a small series on youtube. I have adobe illustrator and flash. Are there any tips or anything you guys could give to help me get started? I really don't know what to do other than make things in illustrator then use flash to move them around?

Hello. I would like to ask about that film application. How long does it usually take them to respond you? Because I sent it and it has been more than a week but still no answer. So now I don't know if they declined it or I just have to wait. I know that the video I showed them is with downloaded music, but it is downloaded from a free music database website. Could that be a problem? Because that way a can upload just swf viodeos and I am not very flash-friendly and don't know how to add there some buttons (like play, stop etc.), so it goes persistently, which i find very annoying :(

It generally takes around a month for applications to be approved or rejected.

Hey guys, I have a question to ask about music in the vids. How exactly do you get films here that have music in it, that aren't necessarily what they created with a team? Cuz I saw some vids where they used music from other artists or the very popular Mozart/Beethoven themes and I'm like...How did these films get accepted into the group?

Do we have to state in our description that the music is free  as long as it's for personal use or do we have to credit the artist and their music or do we actually have to attach permission docs or notes that show that we have permission to use the music/sound clips?
