First, let me thank you again for the wonderful response and interest in the volunteering for the film gallery. There are so many of you that want to propel this film community to the next level and there will be many ways to help make that happen as groups launch and as the community at large becomes fully aware that we're here to make a statement with the quality of the content that resides in our galleries for both film/animation and video tutorials. I'm so excited that actually DO bounce in my chair. *girlscouts honor*
I've held on to many of the applications from those of you who sent them to volunteer for film and have ideas of how to best utilize your skill sets and interests even outside of the GM positions that I made decisions on, so don't be surprised if I contact you for those things in the coming weeks.
That said, let me introduce you to the newly added Film GMs!
was re-wrangled back in to volunteer with Marker-Guru in animation. She kicked ass before and we had to let her go for a bit due to life stuff but we're fortunate enough to have her back with us now. She has an awesome background in animation and her work is really good. Check her out if you haven't yet.
KevinMaistros is now volunteering in film along with Kaotika who is still as lovely as ever!
Here is a bit of background on Kevin...
He is in his 9th year of film production, 11 years now, with graphic/art design. And has a client list that ranges from EA Games to the Suicide Girls with a little bit of everything in between. His music video productions are bas ass and he's got a great personality to boot.
ElectrikPinkPirate also in film
Says.....
"I am a Radio-TV-Film major at California State University Fullerton (this is my 4th year; I'm a senior), I am a radio DJ on our campus's internet radio station: Titan Radio, I am an active member of our campus's TV-Film society (we go to screenings and hold our own film festivals, etc), and I have experience with cameras themselves (both handheld and the Live-TV huge-kind) and live/field/studio media. Though everything is switching to digital, we're going to be shooting on celluloid next term for Film Production (and forced to go to Burbank to develop it! haha!)
I have experience with simplistic editing systems (windows moviemaker for one) and more complex such as Final Cut Pro (Mac) and Adobe Premier Pro (PC). So i can definitely help with general-knowledge on that
I am currently the editor, cinematographer, and co-producer of a TV show we're launching this Fall on KDOC (a local commercial- not public access-California TV station) called Unsigned Rock TV. I am familiar with different styles like French New Wave, Silent, Film Noir, Art House, Western, etc. (there's really so many!) I have attended lectures by notable cinematographers, such as Matthew Libatique this past spring (his recent shooting work includes Iron Man) and am immersed in the Hollywood system Regularly our campus gets visited by industry professionals for both lectures/to shoot (Jerry Bruckheimer's crew was just there on the 20th of this month shooting something for The 11th Hour) and we have regular day-to-day involvement with the filming industry ^__^ Past and current professors of mine have worked for Dreamworks, been network Censors, Produce horror flicks, etc. After four years at this college my brain is pretty much bursting with film-information I am currently taking classes including: Field Video Production, World Cinema, Children's Television, Censorship and Regulation, and Documentary Film & TV."
(She doesn't talk a lot at all, isn't hyper and has NO energy, but we'll see what we can do about that)
AND THAT, ladies and gentleman, concludes the update on what's happening in film today! Please give these newbies your support and love! ANDDDD two days left for Halloween Quickie film challenge entries. The ones we've received so far are posted below.
